Successful adoptions are what homeless, mistreated boxers dream of. Many people believe they are doing something wonderful for the dog -- and they are -- but they don't realize what an incredible addition to their families a beautiful, loving boxer can be ... until they take that special pooch home. And then they begin to realize what a special gift a boxer truly is. Read more about LSBR's successful adoptions below. | |||

Honey Honey is living a great life with Michael and I. She has a yard that she can get to through a doggie-door and because she is so good while we are gone, she does not need to be kenneled. She loves KFC traditional recipe chicken but never gets any due to pancreatitis. She has a mountain of toys through which she frequently digs for the exact one she is thinking of. She loves to go for walks though she prefers to sniff endlessly rather than really walk. She has multiple beds thoughout the house, too, each of which has heating pads. Honey is a joy to us and is as much a part of our lives as any person and probably more so considering that she lives with us. Thank you and Lone Star Boxer Rescue for being able to bring her to our lives. |

Ditto and Tatum I ask myself, what have done to be so lucky. I have been blessed with two precious gifts. Without your organization it would have never been possible. Thank you... Karen |

Getty In the year since we adopted Getty, his true personality has slowly but surely come out. He loves to take naps with his mom, go for rides, play with his toys and take more naps. He's been a great addition to our family and we love him very much. |

Diesel's Story We do not know much about this adorable dog's history, except that he was rescued by the angels at LSBR. I got the call from LSBR that they had an 11 month old fawn/white male that needed to be picked up from the vet. It was a holiday weekend and the kennels would be full, so I was asked if we would like to take a look at this new dog, foster him and try him out in our home. When I picked him up, LSBR had already assigned him the name Indy, but I was told we could change it. From the minute I put him on the lead and walked out the vet door, he was like an out of control engine. He had all kinds of energy and just seemed ignited and happy to be around people. That evening, as we ate dinner, the new edition to our family raced around the house. My husband said "he's just like the diesel engine on my truck, he doesn't stop". That's how we decided on the name Diesel - and he has lived up to it. Like with any rescue dog, he has his behavioral issues we're working through , but like a true boxer's disposition and personality, Diesel not only raced around our house, but he raced into our hearts immediately. Our biggest concern about adopting him immediately was that we wanted to make sure our cat adjusted to him and that he would be able to adjust to primarily being an indoor dog like our other boxer. He is very smart and intuitive and learns quickly from our 5 year old boxer, Blaise. The two of them are like two peas in a pod. Needless to say Diesel is just the friend Blaise has been waiting for. They are inseparable. He only slept in his crate for 2 nights before driving us crazy with crying and whining. Since I have owned and raised boxers before I know that crate training takes time, but for some reason we did something that common sense tells you not to do - we let him OUT OF HIS CRATE!!! Something just told me to try and see if he would sleep next to us in our bedroom - he curled up right next to Blaise on her dog bed on MY side of the bed and proceeded to go right to sleep. Blaise didn't seem to mind, so we figured why not. He did not want to be alone in his crate. We bought him his own dog bed and he has been sleeping on it next to Blaise ever since. He's not only a great companion for our other boxer, but he makes a great running buddy. I started training for the BP Marathon and Diesel has become my pace car because I can't ever get ahead of him - like my husband said "diesel's never stop". Whoever originally named him Indy must have known something too!! I'm going to miss him come January 15th when I have to run all those miles by myself without my running buddy - it's too bad marathon regulations do not allow dogs to run. We officially adopted Diesel from LSBR in October 2005. We feel blessed to have him and are happy that a desperate circumstance brought him into our lives, hearts and home. Thank you LSBR.Cheers, |

Gus and Ruby These two sweethearts have stolen our hearts. Gus was adopted in March 05 and Ruby in October. As soon as Ruby arrived, they became best buddies and have been inseparable ever since. They both love the beach and wear themselves out chasing each other in the waves. Both Gus and Ruby are well behaved, loving, beautiful dogs. We feel so lucky to have these two fantastic pups in our lives. Now that we are a family, we don't know how we ever managed without them. Thank you so much, we couldn't be happier! |

Moxie We have completed our family with our most recent LSBR installment, And Baby makes THREE! Moxie has adopted Wyatt and Jenna more than we have adopted her. These three dogs were meant to live together, they lay, they play, and most importantly they love eachother! We couldnt have asked for a better pup to complete our collection! Love from the complete family! Sarah, Jeremy, Wyatt, Jenna, and Moxie! |

Sunny Thank you Lone Star Boxer Rescue for adding an incredible component to our family! Sunny is doing terrific. She has come out of her abandonment shell to be intelligent and full of fun. She can be so 'womanly' with her body cleanliness and proud stature, and then 'doggie' with her messy eating and rough-housing with other dogs! Her favorite fun is to have us throw her 'baby' (a stuffed squeeky bear) around the house. She has become quite attached to it taking it into her crate at night. During the day she loves to be inside lounging in her donut bed and only getting up to follow me around the house. She obeys commands well and knows when she's done something wrong by going 'time out' upstairs away from me. Thanks for working with us to find the right fit and educating us on boxer instincts and behavior. I appreciated your concern about why we wanted to adopt and how Sunny would fit into our lives. Sunny has become our son's little sister and my second child! And, my husband laughs that I'll cook more for the dog than the humans in our house!! Thank You The Pincus Family |

Gabe Dear LSBR, Well, Gabe (Gable) has been a member of family for only one month, and yet we cannot imagine our lives or home without him. Except for not being the petite female we thought we wanted, he is perfect! He loves taking walks and going on car rides to new places, but most of all he loves eating and playing with his toys, especially the giant tongue. Gabe isn't too interested in our cat, but they do exchange kisses every so often. Gabe might look tough, but he is just a gentle soul. Our only complaint is he is a very messy eater, but that is probably because of that huge mouth and floppy lips - a face only a parent could love, and we do. We don't know why we were lucky enough to get the best boxer LSBR had, but we are grateful. Thank You Susan and Greg Hinson |

Mikey Working with dogs as much as we do, Lone Star Boxer Rescue volunteers worry about some finding permanent homes a little more so than others. That's true for Mikey. It was clear that this beautiful boxer craved human interaction, but after a failed adoption he had trouble adjusting to kennel life. Add to that some behavioral and allergy problems, and we worried that potential adoptive families only saw issues with Mikey, not the love and spirit we saw when we gazed into his big brown eyes. |

Lanie We have had Angus since he was a puppy, and finally decided to get him a sister. When we saw Lanie on the LSBR website, we knew we wanted her to be his sister. We went through the adoption process, then Angus and Lanie met- I can't say it was love at first site, but they played, and we all thought it would work out. Nowadays, she and Angus are best friends, and do everything together- sleep, play, poop, etc. If Lanie is tired and doesn't want to play, she has to sit down, because when Angus wants to play he nibbles on one of her back legs and her only defense is to sit down as quickly as possible. After a good wrestle, Angus will go to the water bowl, get a good wet tongue and face, and walk over to Lanie- they then kiss so she can have some of the water. They compliment each other so well, and we can tell Angus is so much happier having Lanie to play with. Lanie has been such a sweet and needed addition to our family and all of us (Angus especially) are so happy we have her. Thanks to LSBR & their wonderful volunteers and staff. |

Murphy and Gracie (Ricky and Lucy) Murphy and Gracie (formerly Ricky and Lucy) have warmed our hearts since July, 2003, and we thank them for letting us become part of their lives. I guess it was love at first sight for all of us. We can't imagine life without them. They are wonderful travel companions and accompany us on all of our major road trips. Both of them are always ready for a long ride. We tell everyone about the boxer rescue and suggest that they look there for a new friend and family member. Thanks so much to all the Boxer Rescue staff. Sincerely, |

Scout We adopted Scout in October 2002. She and her brother, Butkis, were both neglected and we are so thankful that Leslie and Sharon saved them (See Butkis' story under successful adoptions.) Scout is our little girl boxer, and despite the fact that she weighs 30 pounds less than her adopted big brother, Cuatro (who weighs 90 pounds), she is not afraid to push him around. Scout and Cuatro look like twins because they are both brindle and their colors/stripes are almost loves to wiggle, prance, chew on her big brother's ankles and otherwise get him "cranked up." She is so much fun. This past summer, Scout and Cuatro got a "skin-puppy" - sister. Our daughter Riley was born in June. Cuatro and Scout have both been so good around our infant and have already shown to be a bit protective of her. We are so thankful that Lonestar Boxer Rescue saved our little Scoutaroo. We, including Cuatro, have a difficult time imagining our life before Scout. Thank you LSBR! |

Kramer We adopted Kramer, who is 16 months old, on August 6, 2004, so, he's been with us almost 4 weeks now and has already stolen our hearts. When we got him his was so thin and his coat was course and dull, but now, his coat is beginning to really shine and is so soft, plus he's gained about 8 pounds! He just loves his new sister, Mollie Belle who is 18 months old. |

Bryce Just wanted to give everyone an update on Bryce, who we adopted in March 2004. He has quickly become a huge part of the family. He has adjusted well and gets along great with his new sister Bijou. Bryce is just what she needed. They spend countless hours wrestling and chasing after each other. He loves his toys but prefers to hang out with Mom and Dad. He is great with our kids and lets them hug and tug on him without complaint. He has learned to sit and stay, but we are working on more. He knows the sound of his collar and leash and sits patiently (well, sort of!) for you to put it on. He loves the trips to the dog park where he can socialize, although sometimes it\u2019s hard to get him back!! All in all he is a wonderful dog and makes our family complete. |

Ripley I currently have a 10 year old male Boxer "Mugsey" on one of our very early morning walks we say a Boxer running loose in our subdivision. Since it was dark I did not get a real good look at this Boxer and when I tried to approach the dog, she ran away.About a week later I was walking Mugsey in the afternoon in the park at the end of our street and again saw this poor starving Boxer but again it ran away. For a week I tried to get close enough to save her with no luck. At this point I was very upset to see this poor feral Boxer. Everytime I tried to approach the Boxer it ran away.... |

AbyGayle (Mercy) I would like to thank Sharon and Lone Star Boxer Rescue for helping us find such a wonderful & loving dog! When we were looking to add and addition to our family, we needed to make sure whoever we choose would get along well with our two other dogs we already have. When we met AbyGayle (Formerly .Mercy. at LSBR) it was love at first sight just from the picture that Sharon had sent to us. We knew Abby was meant to be with our family... |
