Successful adoptions are what homeless, mistreated boxers dream of. Many people believe they are doing something wonderful for the dog -- and they are -- but they don't realize what an incredible addition to their families a beautiful, loving boxer can be ... until they take that special pooch home. And then they begin to realize what a special gift a boxer truly is. Read more about LSBR's successful adoptions below. Harry Potter (Harley)
Harry Potter joined our home in 2002 and was a wild child. Then Selena (our beautiful whitey) joined in August 2003 and is so much more hyper then Harry she keeps him worn out. We love Selena and Harry Potter and miss Rosie and Mickey. The Helton Family Monk (Rocky)
When we adopted Monk (formerly "Rocky" at LSBR), we wanted a dog who would get along with our chow cross, Kelly, and hopefully help her stay young. Kelly turned 9 recently and has started to show signs of arthritis. A mature dog like Monk (6) was exactly what we needed to make our family complete. When Monk first arrived he went through a few days of nervousness. He was so anxious to please, and followed us closely (OK, under foot) for quite a while. He has been so responsive to new commands, and is a perfect playmate for Kelly. They both love to jump into the water, to walk on the beach, and to play with their large supply of balls and other toys. Now, after a few months with us, he is happy and much more confident, and he has put on a bit of muscle now that the heartworm treatment is complete. As you can see, they are just as good at resting as they are at getting into trouble. We are so grateful to the work Linda and Sharon did for us at LSBR. Both of them worked hard to make sure that the dog we adopted fit our needs, and we know it has worked out well for Monk. Sarah Heath and Jody Mitchell Wyatt and Jenna
When I first became involved with Lone Star Boxer Rescue three years ago I never imagined that I would be blessed with the two best dogs in the world. Wyatt and Jenna have completed the pieces missing in mine and Jeremy's lives, as we have completed theirs. They joy these monkeys bring to us everyday is the glue that holds this family together, and it is all thanks to LSBR. I know Wyatt and Jenna would want to thank you guys for helping them find us too, so in their words "Ruff Ruff Ruff", roughly translated is "Thank you very much", I think :) Thank you from our little world, Jenna (Stella)
We wanted to share some pictures of Jenna (formerly Stella) and let you know she is just a joy in our lives. We took her on a trip to Dallas this past weekend to see Noah and Ashley (the two grandchildren that were with us and helped up pick Jenna). She had the best time playing with the kids and their puppy! Our son and daughter-in-law have decided to adopt a boxer also and will contact the boxer rescue in Flowermound, TX. We will see you in November when we come in with Jenna for pictures. Thanks to all a Lone Star Boxer Rescue for the wonderful things you do and for helping us find our girl Jenna. Best regards, Nikki Thank you so much for all of the great work that you do at Lone Star Boxer Rescue! It's wonderful to read about all of the successful adoptions that happen because of your dedication and hard work. I adopted Nikki from LSBR way back in October of 2001. I saw her picture on the website and just fell in love with her. When we got her home, she was the most wonderful dog in the world - well behaved, crate trained, potty trained, just great! Who would have given up this adorable dog? Then we took her outside for a walk and that's when we realized why she may have been in adoption in the first place. As soon as she spotted another dog within 100 feet of us she showed explosive and aggressive behavior. It made daily walks quite interesting with neighbors craning their necks to see what the commotion was about and Nikki created quite a reputation for herself with people crossing the street when they saw us coming. Since then, she has received lots and lots of training from our good friend, Lee Mannix, in Austin. She recently passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test which included her having to pass another dog on leash while the owners stopped to shake hands and visit. Nikki has also been used as a test dog in the CGC test requiring her to be just that other dog! She makes frequent visits to the local pet stores and comes in nose to nose contact with other dogs and has a great time with no incidents at all. Our daily walks are a pleasure and our neighbors can't quite believe that she's the same dog. I visit your website frequently and would love to take another boxer home as soon as I move into a bigger house! Again, thank you, thank you, thank you! My life would not be the same without our beautiful canine friend, Nikki. Cheers, Kerry Joyce & Nikki Rocky
Thank you so much for bringing Rocky into our lives. So many people are set on bringing home a new puppy, they would change their minds if they spent anytime with a boxer of any age. Rocky is 7 but I dont think anyone has told him that! He has bonded to the entire family ( even Evie our cat).He now has a home with 2 other boxer sisters and a kitty, and plenty of room to run and play. I dont know what kind of life he had before he found us,but I can assure you it will be nothing but wonderful for him from here on out,he will always have plenty of love and hugs and he will never be lonely.Thank you for all of the wonderful work you do,the world needs more people like all of those involved in boxer rescue! Kathy and Rocky Garcia Howie
Thought you might like to see this. Howie is great! He has gained up to 59 lbs. His coat is shiney, his skin is no longer dry and flakey. He is starting to show more and more personality... today he finally decided that was his bear (after sleeping with it for over a week)! I'll keep you posted on his progress! Thanks for everything, Karen Chief (Angus)
We adopted Chief (Angus) Memorial day weekend and he has quickly became part of the family. Everyone loves him. He does great with our 6 year old nephew. Thanks for letting us adopt such a wonderful Boxer. We are already discussing when to adopt another. John, Ashley, and Chief Tanner Jackson (Chester)
We could never have hoped to have such a wonderful family addition. Jackson (aka Chester) is a wonderful boy. He is incredibly smart though choses sometimes not to listen, like all kids. Sometimes I wonder who could have given up such a beautiful face. He's a snuggler whether its with me, Wes or his little sister, Karma. He plays so hard that small patches of hair seem to disappear here and there from banging into something. He's the only boxer I've ever seen with a natural tail, but it is such a part of his personality. Thank you LSBR for allowing him to come into our lives. A special thank you to his foster mom, Linda, for taking such good care of him. Jaya Davis Ripley (Ringo)
My wife and I recently adopted a wonderful dog from you named Ringo. We changed his name because it really didn't fit. His new name is Ripley, because believe it or not he will chew, dig, or escape from just about anything or anyone. Flounder
Several months ago when I first discovered the web site for LSBR I knew that one day I would find just the right pup for me. I knew that I would find one with which the right mix of chemistry between the two of us would be the base from which to build a solid relationship. I was correct; I found just the right pup. When I first noticed him on the website I knew he had the right attitude for me. When I met him for the first time I was impressed by the immediate chemistry between the two of us.
We have been together for a little more than a month now and he is really all that I had ever hoped for. His adjustment to his new home is coming along very well. From the beginning I really only had one concern, would he (Flounder my pup) and my son's boxer (Dixie, a 6 year old female) get along? Well, this is passed and the two of them act as if they had been together for all their lives. So, I guess that the biggest concern has worked out very well. We now are a very happy family. We want to thank all the folks at LSBR for making this possible. Frank Nasto Buckeye
We cannot believe how lucky we are to have Buckeye. She is such an awesome dog. She adores the kids, she is VERY bright, and has no bad habits! We lost our dog of 16 years last fall, and I didn't believe I could get attached to a dog again. Well, Miss Buckeye changed that. She immediately became a part of our family and stole our hearts. She is such a love bug, and is just content to be around her people. We feel like we won the doggie lottery with her. Thanks for hooking us up, she is a real blessing to our family. Echo
Sammy and Echo have become best buddies. If you find one of them, you have found them both because they are always together. They are both constant motion. Echo has started her obiedence class and is learning quickly. She knows sit, stay, down, outside, tinkle, settle, & leave it. She is learning to heel. She has been very quick to learn and loves going to class. Mirrors and glass tend to puzzle her. She doesn't understand the reflection isn't real. In about two months we will be moving to another house here in Carrollton - about a mile from where we live know. The dogs will not only have a fenced off yard but a pool and doggie door as well. I will be giving Echo swimming lessons first because of the three dogs she will be the first to jump in the water. I have a small plastic kids pool in the backyard now and she loves for me to put water in it so she can climb in and lay down in the water.
Thanks for taking such good care of Echo. She is a very happy, alert little girl. Jan Blevins Butkis
Butkus is the puppy that I fell in love with on our trip to Houston, last August. He and his sister were rescued from the Valley on the Texas border. They we re both very sick, weighing in at only 3 Lbs. Budkus's sister's ears were hand cropped at home with scissors; both of the puppies sores all over their bodies and paras ites which took months to get rid of. My sister, Sharon, a LSBR volunteer and I, picked them up from the vet when they were approx 8 weeks old. They both went into fo stercare by a MOST wonderful family in the Houston area.
When Buddy( his nickname) was healthy enough, we had him flown to Cleveland, where he joined his canine sisters, Chloe, our rescue shephard-collie mix, and Ginger, our 3 year old Boxer, who was kept in a bird cage untill she was 5 months, when we adopted her. They all get along great. Chloe thinks she is the mother of 2 Boxers. Ginger is the BIG SISTER!!!! He has really added so much joy to our family , and we can't imagine life without him!!!! Thank you LSBR! Prince
Prince is doing really well. He is learning to play (thanks to Cindy & Jana for his 'baby') and learning to chew (thanks to Shannon for the pig ear). He loves to go out on the porch or take a nap in his 'cave'. He's gained about 7 lbs. since we rescued him and is becoming stronger every day. Everyone thinks he is such a beautiful dog (he loves to get groomed). He starts his heartworm treatment tomorrow, so he'll be kenneled up for a month or so. Take care. Bela
Just wanted to report in on our boxer girl Bela. She has fit right in. Bela is sure a bundle of energy and loves being a part of everything we do. Here is a shot of her enjoying the blue bonnets with the Mrs. Thanks again for making this happen. Rick and Tessie, Leander TX. Jake (Biscuit)
I just wanted to drop you a note to say how wonderful Jake has adjusted to is new home. We just adore him and feel it was such blessing we made when we broug ht him home and made him a part of our family. Our boxer Gracie loves her new brother. They spend hours playing together. He is so happy. We haven't had any discipline problems and he has picked up on basic commands of sit, stay, and com e very well. We adore our big boy and are so thankful for the opportunity to ad opt this wonderful Boxer. I have enclosed some pictures of the two kids. Pleas e share them with the others at Lone Star Boxer. Thank you. Madeline
Madeline just turned 2 years old on Valentines Day! She has put on some weight and is starting to fill out (at 52 pounds). She is very happy, healthy and well adjusted -- and by far the *best* dog we have ever had! Thanks LSBR Buckeye Buckeye is doing great. She is so easy, and loves to perform...
THEIAI (Simone, Squaw, Madeline) (pronounced: Thei rhyming with Day, and the "th" is same as thump. And then the "ah". Theiai= Theh+ah.)
Theia has seemed to settle pretty well in our Boxer crazy house. She is a very gentle and sweet girl. Her temperament reminds me of Draco. She gets along great with Argos. It is fun to see them hard at play. Now we know what Boxer chaos is all about. She is a typical energetic and curious Boxer. She also behaves very nicely with our 20 months old daughter, Royina. We are very happy that this beautiful brindle girl has entered our lives. We are sure that she will bring as much joy as Draco and Argos. Thanks to all the LSBR volunteers for rescuing these beautiful dogs and seeing to it that they get a lifetime of deserving happiness. Babu, Juno, Royina and ArgosBoxer ............and a Boxer Angel called Draco Benson
Here is a photo of Benson. He has turned out to be a wonderful boy. We are so happy with him, he has adjusted well. We check the web site often to see who has been adopted and look at the new boxers. As you can tell from the picture, he loves laying on his couch. Roger, Shana, Maya, and Benson Duke (Kuda)
We adopted Duke more than a year ago, and he is such a special boy. His spirit was broken, he was really skinny and had heartworms. There is a picture of him when he first came to LSBR on the foster family page. He is a totally new dog now. He is definitely the best frisbee-catching boxer in the world! He even brings it back and drops it for you to throw again. Duke is at home with his two boxer sisters, Sophie and Tater, who are also rescues. He also enjoys being a foster brother to other Lone Star Boxer Rescue boxers. Thanks to Sharon for matching us up with this super special boy! He's made our little boxer herd complete.
Madeline
Thought you might like to see a picture of Madeline! She is the BEST dog we have ever had, and we can't wait to rescue another one from you guys! The Villalta Family Nani (Charmaigne)
Nani (which means pretty in Hawaiian) is doing GREAT! She learned her new name right away and she and Bozley bonded quickly. It has taken a little longer to train her than it did Boz but she is a sharp little dog. She has put on some weight and looks sleek and healthy. In fact, with all the zooming around she and Bozley do, Boz is looking pretty buff himself. Whenever I take them out people always stop me to say what beautiful dogs they are. I couldn't have found a better fit for our family. Thanks for your help! Laura Dulci (Jillian)
It's been three weeks since her adoption, and I can tell you that Dulci is a smashing success. My Maltese Basil enjoys her company I think, as long as she isn't stepping on him (literally!). After some negotiation, she has adjusted to her crate very well, as long as I agree to give her a treat upon entry, which I am happy to do. Attention all those thinking of boxer adoption: please do! Thank you all so much for taking such good care of her; I feel she was sitting there waiting for me to come get her. Please give a special thanks to Jimmy, Jennifer, and Sharon for their assistance, advice, patience, and encouragement. Daniel Nadia
Here is a picture of my wonderful two. December 2001 was when Nadia and I first met. She was being walked down the street by a 14-yr old who was desperate in his attempts to sell her to anyone willing to give him money for video games. After about 1 hour I convinced him to turn her over to me and I would take her in and place her in rescue. I was Nadia's foster Mom. After several months of treatment she overcame all and finally found a permanent home, with ME. Now she along with her Boxer Brother Ash have a great time playing in the backyard and lounging around. Doing exactly what a boxer should do. I would like to thank you Sharon and all other LSBR volunteers for the wonderful jobs they do. Without the help of LSBR many rescues such as Nadia would never get a second chance in life. LSBR does make a difference, just ask Nadia, and I am glad to be a part of such a wonderful organization! Jennifer Crane Teddy (Ian)
We've only had our little Teddy (Ian) for 4 days, but he's already a special part of our family. He is such a good boy & has loved on Sammie (my elderly "set-in-her-ways" female boxer), so that even she is beginning to enjoy having a baby brother! My heartfelt thanks to Mona for all the love, time & training she put into this precious rescue. I also appreciate the extra time she gave my beloved Sammie to adapt to having another dog in our lives. All the extra effort put forth by the wonderful volunteers of LSBR do indeed enable miracles to happen. :) I don't know who is the most fortunate when adopting a rescue...the rescued dog or the lucky family who has a rescue enter their lives. Having my 2 boxers to love is a special gift.....& I can't wait to adopt 1 or 2 more. My thanks to everyone at LSBR for all the hard work you do everyday on behalf of these boxer babies. Sincerely, Anne Daly & family Lady (Layla)
Layla, now called Lady, has adjusted to her new forever home and family well. She just about has us trained! She has been wonderful for our whole family (the cats are still a little shy, but they are getting to know her at their own pace). She has gained some weight, like everything else in our household, and is very beautiful. Even though my husband was raised around boxers, I never thought about having one - now I can't imagine living with out one. We have also discovered that she is a mean 'gardening' dog - she loves to 'prune' the bushes. We love her very much and you can tell that she is VERY happy at HER home. Coy, Lori & Cory McCollum Riley
For as long as I can remember, we have always had a boxer in the family. Last summer, I had to put my 14-year-old boxer to sleep. It was one of the most difficult things I have ever done. When it was time to move into my new home, there was no way I was going to be without a new boxer. While I was looking to buy a boxer on the Internet, I was lucky enough to run into the Lone Star Boxer Rescue Web site. That's where I found my "little" Riley. I made the trip to Houston from Fort Worth to visit him and fell in love. His foster mom was more than generous by keeping him for almost two months until I moved into the new home. Now, Riley follows me everywhere that he can and never strays more than a couple of feet away. I get so many compliments on my boxer when I take him out for a walk. Riley is so well behaved and such a great dog that I have told everyone that I know that if they want a new addition to the family, Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the only way to go. My wife, who was very apprehensive about getting a dog, has even grown quite attached to him. Special thanks to Mona Cabler and Sharon Reitman for all of the work that you do with this program. You have definitely touched many people's lives and you have blessed us with a special little one in Riley. I can't thank you enough! Shane Hardin
Lady Lady has adjusted well to the good life. She plays non stop with our 3 year old -- they are best of friends. Lady has free roam of the house, her most difficult decision for the day is which bed she will be sleeping in: ours or our 11 year olds. Just wanted to say thank you! Scott, Kelli, Dustin, Drew & Lady Barkley
This is Barkley. He came to Lone Star Boxer Rescue as an owner surrender, and we adopted him soon thereafter. He has adjusted very well to his new family, which includes Pearl, our female boxer, Kitty Boy, our three-legged cat, and Mom and Dad, of course! In addition to all the typical boxer traits we love so much, Barkley has one distinct characteristic -- he has an unusually long tongue that he finds difficult to keep in his mouth even when it is closed! This has definitely become his trademark and we think it makes him even cuter! We are very grateful to have Barkley as the newest addition to our family -- he is such a sweetheart! Roxanne and Mike Farris Lola Mae
Lola has been a whirlwind experience in my life. She brings SO much joy to Kaiser and I! Kaiser and Lola can often be spied wrestling, playing tug of war or napping together. Lola has taught Kaiser that tug of war IS fun! She has a spunky, fun personality which matches Kaiser to the tee, and that's exactly what I wanted, and he needed. She truly is his little sister and he will go to the ends of the earth to defend her. She is beginning to like the dog park and is starting to even play with the other dogs, while Kaiser bounds around with his usual playmates. She and I are starting puppy classes this week, and she is picking up very well on the obedience training I do with Kaiser. Thank you guys for allowing me to bring such a lovebug into my house. If she's not playing with Kaiser, she's nuzzled up with me (as she is right now). Vasha (and Kaiser, too!)
Piper
As you can see, Piper can either be a firecracker or a lounge lizard, and change from one to the other at the drop of a hat (or ball)! In one photo, she's waiting for the boys to wake up from their naps, and the other is the typical "DAD'S HOME" scene at our house. I don't know what Piper's life was like before being here, but if she could talk, I'd bet that she'd tell you that she's never been loved like she's loved here. She fits right in with two active little boys, but she's still Momma's and Dadda's girl. Everyone tells us what a special boxer we have and is amazed when we tell them she's a rescue. We hope you get some other inquiries from all the people we send your way.
It's hard to believe that we've only had Piper here for four months. It seems that she has always had that "Piper Better" tag proudly worn on her collar -- heart-shaped of course. We are so glad we found you guys and Piper. A special thank you for all the support Sharon and Cheryl have offered us throughout the adoption and well after. Piper is our first dog and we appreciate all the extra advice and help. Lots of love to Lone Star Boxer Rescue, The Better Family: Gretta
When we first brought Gretta into the house as a foster she was 5 to 6 months old, and weighed less than 13 pounds. Rebecca, Toby and I fell in love with this little girl and decided that we would adopt her. The house has not been the same since! Gretta and Toby bounce all over the house, yard, and humans all day long. They love to play tug-of-war, soccer, and keep-away. While Gretta has not figured out the finer points of soccer, she is giving it her best. Thank you so much for bringing her into our lives. She and Toby are now enrolled in obedience school and will be moving on to agility as soon as possible. Gretta is a natural athlete and it is fun watching her burn off her energy with Toby. The McConnells Tex (Barkley)
Thanks to everyone at Lone Star Boxer Rescue for your love and dedication to saving boxers' lives. The Winters Family Argos (Manny 2)
This is Argos (Manny 2). I am in my forever home now. I like it here. I am getting good food and lots of loving (but I give them more loving). I would have given them my dog food, but my mom/dad told me that they don't like dog food. My little sister is nice. She is 10 months old and is always grabbing my face. It is OK with me because she is little and doesn't know what she is doing. Mom often corrects her though.
Getting back to me, I go out for long walks everyday and I also get to play ball. I have caught a few flies the last few days and also chased a toad (nasty creatures). I love licking my parents and sister to death. Please do send lots of Boxer slobbers to Barbara Winston , my foster mom, and tell her that I am fine. Give my love to everyone at LSBR. Argos Thank you so much for this wonderful boy, and thank you again for our beautiful Draco. Babu, Juno & Royina Boomer
I started out fostering Boomer, and I realized not only did I want to keep him, there was no way Tia was going to let him go! Boomer is sweet and loving. He and Tia chase each other, play tug of war with the toys, and snuggle together. He also does the best "wiggle butt dance" I've ever seen! Thanks for bringing Boomer into my and Tia's life. Kay Hill (and Tia, too!) Brandi and Susy
As you told us, we would fall in love with these sisters immediately -- and we did. We're pretty sure they fell in love with us as well. After having a boxer in the family a few years ago, we are certain that there is no better breed for families. Brandi and Susy are no exception. We greatly appreciate the LSBR and its willingness to help make Brandi and Susy a part of our family. Keep up your excellent work! Adam J. Holland Photos from left: Susy and Brandi give boxer slurps to their new siblings. Brandi, center, and Susy, are doing well in their new home with the Hollands. Rusty
Rusty came to my home first as a foster dog during Thanksgiving, 2000. I really didn't have room for him as I had another male who was not the best with other dogs. I kept him separate and slowly introduced him to my dogs and he did great. However, I did notice that if he saw a cat or another dog outside, he turned into "Cujo." That's just my endearing nickname for him, but only when outside on our walks or runs.
I have had Rusty for more than a year now, and he is the most loyal, loving, attentive and special boxer. He is very attached to me and I love his loving stare at me. It's like he's saying, "Thank you, I'm yours forever, just love me," and I do! And, he is mine forever along with his brother and sister, Boris and Natasha. Sharon Reitman
Dear Boxer Rescue, Just wanted to give you an update on Tyson, now called Miroslav. It's been 1 year since he entered our lives, and as you can tell by the pictures, it's like we've known him forever. He and our other boxer Sturges get along great, and we love him so much. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Matt and Ira Snyder Left: Tyson, fawn boxer, relaxes with new dad Matt and brother Sturges. Boris
He was a little confused at first, and he barely ate for the first day and a half or so, but now eats all of his food with little or no prompting. He loves pig ears, but that is really the only thing I've found that he'll chew on. He'll lick bones when I present them to him, but they lay forgotten on the floor 30 seconds later. He is extremely loyal and happy, if easily cowed, and I have yet to hear him bark. He loves running and keeps up with me on my 3 mile runs with no problem. Thank you so much, Sharon and Tara, for connecting me with my (not-so) little baby. I'll continue to send more pictures as they are developed! Kevin Viktor
Viktor is smart, fun, loyal and brave. He loves people and when we walk along the beach he is constantly stopping to meet new people (and earn a treat). He has done really well with his training and we look forward to getting even closer! Thanks for helping me find this wonderful creature! David Whidden Falco
He loves to go for walks and play tug of war and he has become very protective of his new family. He is very selective about who he lets in the house, especially if I am home alone. My son loves his new friend and having a pet has taught him some responsibility. He loves to help take care of him. Maria Chase
Chase is doing great! It took him a few weeks to warm up to us and to get used to his crazy boxer sister Ginger. He has put on much needed weight and looks wonderful. He gives hugs and kisses all the time, and is very well-mannered. We don't know what we would do without him in our lives. He stole my heart the first day I went to see him. I knew that he had to come home with me. Desiree & Chris (and Ginger, too!) Buddy Buddy is settling in very nicely. I could not have asked for a better dog! The poor thing was severely underweight at only 50 pounds when I picked him up in December, but he now weighs in at 57 pounds. We still have a ways to go but at least he is gaining!
When we go on our walks, I receive SO many compliments about him. People think he is such a pretty boxer. Of course, I knew this already, but I just figured I was a little prejudice! He has taken over the lounger in my apartment and most of my bed, but there is nothing like going to sleep and waking up to that cute face. I just want to thank Sharon and the volunteers at Lone Star Boxer Rescue for all you do for these dogs. You guys are the best! Rolicia Prud'homme Bubba
You can see our house and yard in the background of this picture! Bubba and Molly love to run and play especially on these cooler days! Heather Bosco
He has assumed ownership of a couch upstairs in our TV area, and when he's not snoozing up there, he loves racing around in circles in our big L-shaped backyard. He has mastered the art of the tug toy and it is now his favorite sport. We growl at each other and tug and tug, and finally I let him have it and he struts away with the rope in his teeth like he has really accomplished something big! He and Kristi (our 9-year-old female) have never had a cross moment between them, but he definitely doesn't want me paying too much attention to her, and he will crowd between us if I pet her too long! Finally, he is probably the best looking of the boxers I've had - at least in the top 2. He is a good looking boxer, and he knows it! Roger Alexander and family Boomer
Boomer's favorite place (other than being with me) is the backseat of daddy's car. He just loves to go on car rides. The only problem is he sleeps when he should be navigating for me. As a result of the positive experience I have had with Boomer, I plan to rescue again when it is time to add a second boxer to the household. Scott Grandjean, San Antonio, Texas Baxter
He's healthy -- weighing in at 72 pounds -- and is happy to be starting the new year in a home where he gets lots of hugs and kisses! Hannah
Hannah has put on weight, and her elbow calluses are going away. She has come out of her shell in the past month. At first, she would not play with toys or eat her chicken chews. We thought she didn't like them. Boy were we wrong! Once she got settled and more secure, she began playing with some of her toys. She inhales chicken chews she likes them so much. She is the best dog. We tell everyone we rescued her from Lone Star Boxer Rescue. Keep up the excellent work! Susan and Trevor Max
He loves to give boxer hugs. When we visit the nursing home, the staff literally lines up to hug and pet him. Everyone comments on how gorgeous, friendly and well-behaved he is. Thank you so much for saving Max's life and for placing him with me. I can't imagine my life without him, and I would take 10 more boxers if I could! Kara Watson Bogey
The Boeske family adopted Bogey, a three-legged boxer, as a companion for their 12-year-old three-legged female, Gretchen, and to ease the pain of the loss of Colonel, another boxer who came to them through a rescue. The two boxers -- and mom and dad -- became fast friends! According to Brenda and Darrell, Bogey is "a great traveler and loves riding in the back seat of dad's truck on the way to some state park for a weekend of camping." When the Boeskes realized Bogey was a bit lonely, they adopted a boxer puppy named Abbie in March 2001.
"Bogey saw Abbie through the upstairs window and met us at the door with the biggest grin I have ever seen," wrote the Boeskes. "He absolutely attacked her with affection, and they have been inseparable since. They kiss, cuddle, play, go for walks and sleep together. They both love Gretchen, too. "My husband and I want to thank Lone Star Boxer Rescue for Bogey, and we will always be grateful to the organization for adding so much to our lives."
