Ripley's Story With the fireworks and thunderstorms this poor Boxer was very ,very fearful. I was at my wits end. I had left food for the Boxer in the park and field it was staying in but I could not get close enough to rescue her. Finally, I called the SPCA and they were no help at all and then called the animal control in Fort Bend county and within the hour they delivered a humane trap. I set the trap on the night of the 11th of July 2003 about 09:30 pm with food and a blanket. At 03:30 am I checked the trap and nothing, I was losing hope. At 05:30am the morning of the 12th of July I was returning just to pick up the trap and there she was a female Boxer of about 18 months of age. She was abandoned and starving and frightened. I immediately fed her and took her to the vet. She had whipworms in her stomach and tested positive for heartworms. I called Sharon from Lone Star Boxer rescue on the way to the vet. Sharon met me at the vets office. I could not think of parting with this adorable female Boxer. At the vet I broke down at seeing this poor little baby. She is now part of my life along with my old Mugsey, they are my family. I have gotten her spayed and completed the heartworm treatment. She is a lot stonger now. I have had Ripley only about 8 months and keep her crated while I am at work. She is very smart and a natural protector and has gained weight. She is about 57 lbs.up from the 42 lbs when I rescued her. Wish me luck with my babies. It also seems that in having her my old Mugsey seems happy not to be alone all day long. I cannot thank Sharon and Lone Star enough in their helping me with Ripley. |
