Sponsor a boxer in rescue
One of the ways you can truly make a difference in the life of a needy boxer is to sponsor it through medical treatment, pay for its boarding or donate to Lone Star Boxer Rescue's emergency fund, which allows our organization to accept and pay for treatment for boxers that are injured or very ill.
Of course, Lone Star Boxer Rescue welcomes donations of any amount. However, we often have requests from people who want to do more. Below, you'll find different sponsorship packages that outline costs and care most commonly needed to rehabilitate a boxer who's been living on the streets as a stray, comes from a shelter or was neglected or abused by its previous owner.
All sponsorships and donations go into the same bank account to benefit all of our dogs in rescue. Donations are used to pay for all veterinary care as well as any necessary boarding charges.

Different levels of sponsorship include:
The Basics - $200
The Basics is comprised of the veterinarian care given to all boxers that are strays or enter LSBR's program from a shelter. It includes:
- All shots a rescue boxer requires
- Neuter or spay surgery
- Check (and treatment if needed) for intestinal worms
- Heartworm test; and
- The Proheart Shot (or other heartworm preventive)
- Veterinarian exam
Heartworm Treatment - $250
Unfortunately, the sad reality is that more than 90 percent of the boxers who come to our program are heartworm positive. Heartworms, if left untreated, can be deadly to a dog that is otherwise healthy. The $250 sponsorship includes heartworm treatment as well as any medication needed before and after treatment.
Boarding charges for one month - $150
Sometimes, Lone Star Boxer Rescue must turn away dogs due to lack of room in foster homes and no funds to pay for boarding. By sponsoring a needy boxer's boarding for one month, you'll allow us to take in a dog who might otherwise be euthanized, continue to live on the streets or worse. The $150 sponsorship covers the basic cost for food and kennel care.
Obedience work for rescue dogs - $100
One of the main reasons boxers end up in rescue is because of behavior issues that can easily be solved with obedience training. To make a dog more adoptable and ensure success in its new home, Lone Star Boxer Rescue often works with a trainer to solve any problems that may be preventing the dog from finding a permanent home.
Emergency Fund - minimum donation $100
If you choose to donate to Lone Star Boxer Rescue's emergency fund, you'll be ensuring that a boxer who is hurt or very ill gets the treatment it needs. Many times, our volunteers take calls from people who find dogs that have been hit by a car, badly abused or neglected so long that they are extremely ill and require treatment beyond our financial capabilities. Your donation of $100 or more will fund care for emergency situations.
Monthly donations
Occasionally, we have people who can't give a large amount, but who truly want to make an impact in the life of a rescue boxer. Many of these people donate each month in increments of $25, $50 or more.
