Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

Monroe (now Manny)

Although he's only been with us for about a month, Monroe (now Manny) has quickly found a permanent place in our hearts. He's smart, quick, and bursting with energy. Manny loves attention and if he sees that you've taken your eyes off of him for just a moment, he quickly tries to find a permanent place in your footwear. Lol! He's a bit of a chewer, but that's okay... We know he's only trying to find ways to channel his energy. Manny loves the couch and has already claimed part of it as his own. When he's not lounging around, he's making friends at the dog park, taunting squirrels, or continues the endless mission to capture his tail. Maybe one day he'll succeed. He loves his rubbery toys and appreciates them since he's already ripped through all the plush ones.

It would be difficult to picture our days now without our Manny in it. Thank you to LSBR and to Robin for bringing him into our lives.

Missy Mu

After losing my old boxer of 11 1/2 yrs. - we weren't planning to get another dog, it was a very painful loss. I happened upon your website and saw Missy & fell in love. It was a very good transition and has made us very happy. Missy was & is a very loving boxer & has trained very well. We love her very much. Thanks Lonestar Boxer Rescue.

Mylei
Mylei

We want to send a huge thank you to Lone Star Boxer Rescue for bringing Mylei into our family. In just a short time, she has enriched our lives & rescued us from the loss of our two 13 year old boxers this year. Mylei has the perfect blend of affection, energy & intelligence to have immediately won our hearts & become a treasured member of the family. She loves to play, take walks with us around the neighborhood & when relaxing she stays close…we hope having sweet boxer dreams now that she has found her forever home. Her favorite toys are a furry beaver, Kong bone & new monkey pull rope (but in truth we think she imagines the guinea pigs might be more fun if they were available - she peeks at them in meerkat pose.) The boys love playing fetch with her inside & running around with her in her new back yard. She is trying hard to get to know kitty too & making progress. Mylei is ready to play, but kitty is still trying to show her who’s boss - they can lay down in the same room now & will be good friends in due course. Her cousin Garbo, a young Great Dane, visited to welcome her to the family & is officially her new favorite play mate. She has also made a trip this week to meet her new vet who proclaimed her an absolute gem (which we already knew). Whether fetching a ball, shaking hands, playing with her toys or simply snuggling up with us, we love her dearly. Mylei is awesome & we are so lucky to have found her! Again, many thanks to all… especially Paula who helped us throughout our (great) adoption experience, as well as Ray & Stacy who were the wonderful foster parents who ultimately brought us together. Kindest regards – Jeff, Jennifer, Quin & Ty

Summer has arrived and so have the "Junebugs." The dogs have gotten a kick out of chasing them around the backyard in the evenings. As the bug flies into the wall so does the dog. It is about time to get more sand for the sandbox it is running on empty. I think most of it has been deposited in the house or been sprayed through the fence into the driveway. The dogs seem to have really enjoyed it and are constantly covered in sand. We tried getting the dogs a small plastic pool to lay in when it gets hot outside. Dash took the approach that it was a giant water bowl that you could stand in; he didn't like sitting in it. Harley would not enter the pool but enjoyed trying to run past it without us splashing her. We are gradually trying to introduce the outside cat to the dogs and vice versa. The cat likes to sleep on the porch and the dogs like to try to chase her whenever we go on a walk. This whole process has resulted in several broken flower pots and numerous dead flowers. During the course of Bill's first year of school and me still working night shift we have acclimated the dogs to being in the house for several hours by themselves without having any accidents or tearing anything up. We have even taken the doors off of their crates so they can sleep in there whenever they like. We can tell when the dogs have been horsing around when we are gone because the rug at the front door is usually crumpled up against the door making it hard to open. Renee, Bill, Dash & Harley
